Ohio Couple and Their Newborn Twins All Share the Same Birthday in Rare Family Moment

In a heartwarming twist of fate, an Ohio couple and their newborn twins now share not just a home and a future, but the same birthday. Scierra Blair and her fiancé José Ervin Jr. were already surprised to discover early in their relationship that they were both born on August 18, just one year apart. But what they never could have predicted was that their twins would one day be born on the exact same date.

The rare and joyful event took place at Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital, where Blair delivered fraternal twins Aŕia and José III just after midnight on August 18, 2024. The couple, now parents for the first time, are overjoyed at the timing and look forward to a lifetime of shared birthday celebrations with their children.

From Coincidence to Connection

Blair and Ervin discovered they shared a birthday only two weeks after they began dating. At first, neither believed the other, and both had to show their identification cards to prove it. This early coincidence set the tone for a relationship filled with serendipity and connection.

As Blair’s due date approached, the idea of their twins being born on their shared birthday was more of a dream than a plan. The babies were originally due on August 28, but Blair’s doctors anticipated an earlier delivery due to the twin pregnancy.

A Timely Arrival

On August 17, Blair went in for a routine check-up when her doctor informed her that she was ready to give birth. With the date so close to their birthday, Ervin began to wonder if their dream might actually come true.

I kept talking to [Scierra] and I kept telling her, ‘I would love them to come on our birthday,’” Ervin said in an interview with Good Morning America. “I’m like, why don’t we just have our kids have the same birthday as us?”

Once doctors confirmed that it was medically safe, Blair and Ervin made the decision to go forward with a C-section delivery after midnight. José III was born at 12:35 a.m., followed just a minute later by his twin sister Aŕia at 12:36 a.m. Both babies weighed just over five pounds and were declared completely healthy.

The remarkable occurrence of all four family members sharing the same birthday has caught the attention of medical professionals and the public alike. Dr. Jennifer Eaton, chair of obstetrics and gynecology at Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital, acknowledged the rarity of the situation.

“It’s extremely rare for both parents and their newborn twins to all share the same birthday,” she said. “We are excited we were able to be part of this extra special delivery and we are very happy for the family.”

Such a coincidence is statistically improbable, making this family’s story truly one of a kind. It is even more notable given the variables involved in twin pregnancies, which often result in earlier-than-expected deliveries.

Looking Ahead to Future Celebrations

With their unique birthday bond, the couple is already planning meaningful ways to mark their shared special day. Blair hopes to take the twins on a cruise for their first birthday, creating lasting memories as a new family of four. Ervin, meanwhile, dreams of a trip to Disney World.

“I feel like it’s going to be great. It’s going to be a blessing,” he said. “I can’t wait for us to celebrate our birthdays together.”

The couple expressed gratitude not only for the healthy arrival of their children but also for the joyful symbolism of the shared date. It adds another layer of unity and connection to their growing family.

A Tradition in the Making

What was once just a fun fact between two partners has now become the cornerstone of an extraordinary family story. Every August 18, the Blair-Ervin household will have four reasons to celebrate. From birthday cakes and candles to cruises and family trips, the date will forever hold deep personal meaning.

Rather than the chaos of planning separate birthdays, this family will embrace the joy of celebrating together. Their story serves as a reminder that life can deliver not only the unexpected but also moments of profound beauty and connection.

A One-in-a-Million Birthday Bond

While many families find joy in shared traits or traditions, the Blair-Ervin family now shares something incredibly rare, the same birth date across two generations. Their story has captured hearts across the country, offering a beautiful reminder of how life’s surprises can bring people even closer together. With love, laughter, and four matching birthdays, August 18 is sure to remain one of the happiest and most meaningful days of their lives.
